Christina Bostick is a 10th Grade student at Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, MS. Christina's father was a visiting missionary from Temple Baptist Church who witnessed hundreds of Nigerians, who had walked for miles, in hopes of seeing the visiting eye doctor. They were desperate to receive medical help or just to obtain a pair of glasses. He returned home so burdened with the memory of having to turn people away because they had run out of glasses to distribute. This is when Christina realized that collecting glasses was a way that she could contribute. With the help of her Eyes of Love team and Temple Baptist Church, Christina is hoping to collect UV sunglasses, new or gently used reading glasses and monetary donations to be used to purchase eye medications for these beautiful people in great need. To learn more about how you can help, please contact Christina at christina.bostick@eyesoflove.net.

History
Because of their proximity to the equator and the Sahara Desert, many are going blind because they do not have eye protection. The harsh rays from the sun cause cataracts and glaucoma in children as young as nine years old. The desert winds keep grits of sand in the air which cause scratching and itching in the eyes leading to ulcers and infection. All of these conditions if left untreated lead to blindness. The people of Eku do not have access to medical treatment or the monetary means to purchase glasses or medications.
